ABSTRACT TiO2, ZnO, and mixture of TiO2–ZnO impregnated on GAC were coupled with a corona discharge for the removal of chloroform and chlorobenzene from air streams.•The removal rate increased with increasing input energy and reached up to 79% and 61% at SIE of 750 J L−1 within the NTP reactor for chloroform and chlorobenzene, respectively.•Due to the combined effect between TiO2 and ZnO particles, the TiO2–ZnO/GAC composite showed better performance than the other two catalysts in both ozone destruction and removal efficiency.

A new model of Interphase Power Controller (IPC) for controlling active power is introduced in this paper. In this model, which is called VSC-based IPC, the voltage source converter (VSC) does the function of the phase shifting transformer (PST) in IPC. This new structure not only has the features of IPC, but also controls the output power effectively when the input power is changed by alternation of the voltage or the phase angle of two networks.
